What It Is

Reserve A Place
  • The Bay of Kotor - mountains falling straight into black water
  • Perast, Kotor and the anchorages beyond the fjord
  • The Elaphiti islands and the Dubrovnik channel
  • Border clearance handled entirely by us
  • Sailed in the shoulder season, when Kotor is quiet
  • Sold by the cabin, open to men and women

Two countries, one coastline, and a border you cross by sea.

South from Dubrovnik the coast changes character entirely. The Bay of Kotor is not a bay at all but a drowned river canyon, mountains falling three thousand feet straight into black water, with Venetian towns folded into the creases. It is the most dramatic sailing in the Adriatic and almost nobody in the charter fleet goes there, because it needs a border crossing and a skipper who has done it before.

The week runs south through the Elaphiti islands and Dubrovnik, clears into Montenegro, spends three days in Kotor and Perast and the empty anchorages beyond, and comes back the way the traders did.

Bring your passport. That is the only complication, and we handle the rest.

How The Days Run

Day One
Dubrovnik. Boarding and out to the Elaphiti islands for the first night.
Day Two
South along the coast. Clearing out of Croatia and into Montenegro.
Day Three
Into the bay. Perast, and the island church built on a rock.
Day Four
Kotor. The old town, and the walk up the fortress wall at dawn.
Day Five
The far end of the bay, where the charter boats do not go.
Day Six
North again, clearing back into Croatia. Last night in the islands.
Day Seven
Return to Dubrovnik.
